Accepting Applications for Part-time seasonal help

The City of Remsen is now accepting applications for part-time summer help. This includes lifeguards and ball park maintenance.  Applications can be picked up at City Hall or obtained online at www.remseniowa.org  under the FORMS tab.   Reimbursement is available for those obtaining lifeguard and WSI certifications.  All employees are subject to a pre-employment drug screening.  Completed applications can be dropped off at City Hall, 008 W 2nd Street, Remsen, IA 51050.  Application deadline is April 1, 2018.

Snow Removal Reminders

Just a reminder that it is unlawful to throw, push, or place any ice or snow from private property, sidewalks, driveways, etc. into the traveled way of a street or alley. (Iowa Code Sec 364.12 [2])

Property owners shall remove snow, ice and accumulations from sidewalks within 24 hours.  If it is not done in 24 hours, the City may complete the work and assess the cost against the property.  (Iowa Code Sec 364.12 [2b & e])

Back Flow Prevention Surveys

Local businesses and residences have been asked to complete a Cross-Connection Risk Assessment Survey in the last week.  It is important that these surveys are completed and returned to City Hall so that if needed, safeguards can be installed to protect the water system in Remsen.  The purpose of the survey is to eliminate any potential contamination sources and provide the best quality water possible to the citizens of Remsen.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
